The Links panel scans the current page and categorizes every link it finds. Use it to audit internal linking, check for broken links, verify nofollow attributes, and review anchor text.

What it shows

Links pointing to pages on the same domain:
  • Total count of internal links
  • Destination URLs
  • Anchor text used
  • Link attributes (rel, target)
Links pointing to other domains:
  • Total count of external links
  • Destination domains and URLs
  • Anchor text
  • Follow/nofollow status — whether each link passes link equity
For each link, the panel shows:
AttributeWhat it means
rel="nofollow"Link does not pass PageRank
rel="sponsored"Link is a paid or sponsored placement
rel="ugc"Link is user-generated content
target="_blank"Link opens in a new tab

Common things to check

  • Missing internal links — key pages should be linked from relevant content
  • Nofollow on internal links — usually unintentional and wastes crawl budget
  • Excessive external links — a large number of outbound links may dilute page authority
  • Empty anchor text — links with no visible text (often image links missing alt text)
